Totally Dependent Upon God

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Acts 17:24: God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Do you realize that we are totally dependent upon God, and that He could easily and justifiably pull the plug on any one of us at any time. He could cut off our air, He could make us unable to move or He could end our lives at the snap of His finger. We need to trust Him for everything.

So why do we mistrust Him? We inherit our sin nature from our physical progenitor Adam and it is passed down to us through all of our biological ancestors from Adam and through our biological parents. Just like Adam and Eve, we all mistrust God. Mistrusting God is the natural work of our flesh. Mistrusting God is foolishness. We need God our Creator for everything, physical and spiritual.

1 John 5:11: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

His divine power has given us physical life, and if we have spiritual life, He gave that to us too. He gives us eternal life, life that can never and will never end.

John 15:5: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Without Him we couldn’t even be alive. Has He given you enough wisdom to depend totally on Him all the time and for everything?
